Every diet or weight loss regime will one day be forced to contend with an obstacle. So, before you even start your weight loss journey be prepared to do battle with the looming issues that can hamper your weight loss success. Let us plant some road flares to help the journey to a newer, healthier you become a reality.
- Be ready for a long journey. It took awhile to gain the weight and it will not fall off in a week or two. Plan on the journey to take about one week for every 1.5 to 2 pounds you desire to lose. By setting achievable goals you will be able to deviate every now and then and still be focused on the end result. This result should be a healthier lifestyle.
- Remember to eat. If you decide to crash diet and avoid the long term diet remember this: If you cut your food consumption too low your body will stop burning fat and will start burning muscle. A simple fact that must not be ignored. You must eat to lose weight. It is all in your choices, so learn to choose wisely.
- Plan for failure. You must remember that a true path to weight loss is a lifetime trip. On this journey you will falter and you will stumble into a fried chicken wing every now and then. By being able to accept this ability to fail, you are preparing your ratio for success.
- Appreciate yourself now. As you travel down the trail to a healthier you, look in the mirror and be happy you lost the 12 pounds and not upset about the 100 more to go. Stop and smell the proverbial roses. Stop and admire the achievements you have accomplished. Appreciate the fact that today you can move yourself around easier than you could have just a brief, short time ago. Success comes in small, subtle steps and you need to notice them.
- Set realistic goals. You became overweight over a period of time. It will take time to lose the weight. It will also take a lot of dedication. Unfortunately if you do not give yourself the time all the dedication in the world will only result in another failure.
- Learn to plan your food intake expeditions. Simply put...spend some time and think about what and where you will eat. Pack a lunch. Decide ahead of time so you will not have to load up on fries at the local burger joint. Plan your journey and create a map to your destination. Instead of depending on fast food to get you through your busy schedule, pre-cook healthy foods and have them around.
Let's put out some road flares and avoid weight loss obstacles the best we can. Read on.... Let's take the journey together.
