Cabbage Soup Diet

Fad Diets and Quick Weight Loss

It is interesting to note that the cabbage diet was developed by an unknown source. The cabbage soup diet has some pros and cons with the biggest pro being that you will obtain fast weight loss. The most negaitive aspect of the cabbage diet is that it is not a healthy diet and it is not the best way to lose weight. Although some refer to this diet as a heart diet the problem is that for the long term you will not be able to sustain the weight loss. The time frame of the actual cabbage soup diet is only one week and once the diet is over you will gain all of the weight back again. If you are looking for a diet that works this diet does work, but not for long. Some may classify this as a liquid diet but actually it is not because you are allowed to add certain vegetables and spices as desired. As far as fad diets are concerned the cabbage soup diet is merely a negative calorie diet that will cause you to drop weight fast merely because of the calorie deficit it creates for the average human on a daily basis. Do not confuse this diet with the "Mayo Clinic Diet" or "the Sacred Heart Hospital Diet" as it has nothing to do with either of these diet plans.

The cabbage soup diet is often referred to as the ultimate fad diet. It is designed to give you a quick, short term weight loss and is the very first diet of its kind to receive popularity. There are many people who have began this diet but find it difficult to finish. Like most other rapid weight loss diets, the cabbage soup diet causes water weight loss instead of permanent weight loss.

Try 24 hour fitness membership for 14 days- free! The cabbage soup diet proves to be effective for one week, after one week the diet is no longer recommended. If you would like to lose more weight, you then have to wait two weeks before starting the cabbage soup diet again. Experts say this is because of the stress the cabbage soup puts on the body. The cabbage soup diet is the consumption of unlimited amounts of cabbage soup paired with other specific foods that does not equal a well balanced meal.

The cabbage soup diet attracts many dieters because it claims that you will never be hungry. Although all other types of food are restricted, you can eat as much cabbage soup as you like. Some of the recipes to this soup call for large amounts of salt, which should be a concern on those watching their salt intake. Almost all of the cabbage soup recipes are bland and people that follow the diet for more than a few days often avoid it.

The cabbage soup diet claims you can lose up to 10 pounds in one week. Muscle loss can be lost when following a low calorie diet. The cabbage diet allows for almost no protein during the week, which is very unhealthy.

The actual cabbage soup diet varies depending on the actual plan. Many diets allow you to eat as much cabbage soup as you want and only fruit for the first day. The next day have you eat unlimited amounts of cabbage with only vegetables. Some cabbage soups even plan to include meat for one of the days, while other cabbage soups are strictly vegetarian.

While Cabbage soup has some side effects such as abdominal pain, abnormal bowel movements and flatulence. The starvation basis of the diet may leave some cabbage dieters feeling weak and tired. Cabbage soup diets may provide you with rapid weight loss, most dieters also regain their weight in just a few weeks after they had lost it.
