Can you actually enjoy eating healthy? Some people might even consider eating healthy as some kind of a punishment. Quite the opposite, it is actually enjoyable. There are so many wonderful dishes that can be made with less sugar and fat. It's like discovering a whole new world. When I go out to dinner or even cook at home I often choose a meal with lots of veggies. There are an endless amounts of ingredients to choose from  and the combinations you can make is endless. Sometimes my spouse and I will pick up some ingredients at the store that we have no clue how to use but with a little trial and error we discover a new tasty dish. It makes your meals fun and interesting. Use your imagination when eating and cooking. Eat what you enjoy and enjoy what you are eating. You don't have to skip the meat in your meals, just add more vegetables. Vegetables can make a great meal by itself too.
Give yourself time in the kitchen. Slow down and be stress free to enjoy eating. Think of your time in your kitchen as quality time with yourself and your family and an important part of your day. Make your kitchen a place where you can feel comfortable and relax. Make it nice, put a tablecloth on your table and maybe even some flowers. LIght candles. Many people seem to want to get in and out of their kitchens as soon as possible. If you feel that way you won't be able to truly enjoy the meals that come out of your kitchen. Be present, pay attention to your eating, don't read the newspaper or magazine while you are trying to eat. Enjoy your food, see how it looks, smell and taste what you are eating.
When you are absolutely enjoying something you want it to last forever. Right? Eat slowly, take your time to enjoy every morsel. Chew your food well. When you eat slowly like this you will notice when your body is telling you that it is full and this will prevent you from overeating. Stop eating when you are full even if there is food on your plate.
When you go to a restaurant next time, order something you have never tried before. Next time you go to the store, buy something low in fat that you have never tried before. Find out if they are as nasty tasting or boring as you thought they might be. You might be pleasantly surprised. Maybe you will find some new favorites and give you some new ideas to spice up your life. Guess what, you have just made one more small lifestyle change to a newer you! All major achievements have to start with small baby steps. You have just taken your first step to a healthier you.
