Exercise Helps You Sleep Better

I have always hated to exercise and I have always thought of myself as being a night person because I can't seem to fall asleep by 10 pm like everyone else. It has come to my attention that it isn't because I am not a morning person; it is because I don't include enough physical activity during my day. I also came to the realization that I need to exercise, not only to sleep better, but to get healthier. It makes me upset and angry that I have let myself go and I am determined to get healthy no matter how bad I dislike exercise. If you feel like this, you are not alone.

I am learning that the amount of physical exercise that you do during the day is one of the key ingredients to getting a more deep relaxed sleep during the night. The more active your body is during the day, the more likely you are going to be able to relax and fall asleep faster at night.

When you exercise regularly you'll notice that your quality of sleep will greatly improve and the transition between cycles and phases of sleep will become more regular. By getting enough physical exercise you will find that your worry and stressors are easier to deal with.

Research and studies indicate that there is a direct correlation between how much we exercise and how we feel afterwards.

You should try to increase your daily physical activity to give your body enough stimulation during the day so that you aren't so full of energy during the night time.

Our bodies require a certain amount of physical exercise in order to function in a healthy manner. It is important to remember that we should not exercise 3 to 4 hours before bedtime.

Some say that it is good to exercise first thing in the morning, some say to exercise in the late afternoon or early evening. It is important to make sure that you expend your physical energy long before it is time for your body to rest and ready itself too sleep. Choose the time of day that is convenient for yourself as long as you are getting in your physical exercise.

Try to exercise at least 3-4 times a week for at least 30 minutes or so. You can include walking, running or something simple. Just get moving!

The goal you are striving for is to increase you heart rate and strengthen the capacity of your lungs. By adding an exercise routine to your daily schedule, you will improve your overall health and you will be more emotionally sound as well.

Along with running and walking there are several other physical activities that you can add to your daily routine. If you are battling with not getting enough sleep, you'll find that aerobic exercise is the best exercise.

Your goal with exercise is to increase the amount of oxygen that reaches your blood stream. Overall, there are many types of aerobic exercise. The activities might include running, biking, walking on a treadmill, dancing or even jumping rope.

There are some non aerobic exercises that you may find beneficial to also help you solve your sleeping problems.

Yoga is an exercise that has a stimulatory effect on your nervous system especially the brain. Yoga utilizes breathing techniques and yoga postures to increase the blood circulation to the brain, promoting regular and restful sleeping patterns. Regular practice of yoga will help you to relax as well as relieve tension and stress.

Tai Chi is an ancient art of breathing and movement that was developed by Chinese monks. The movements involved are slow and precise, which is ideal if you have joint pains or you are unable to participate in high aerobic exercises. Research has shown that Tai Chi can help with insomnia by promoting relaxation.

If you are too busy to exercise on a regular basis, you should still try to work in some kind of physical activity into your day. Whenever possible, take the steps instead of an elevator, park your car further away from the store, these little things will do wonders for your body and your sleeping habits.

You should also walk instead of drive when going short distances. As you may know, there are small things you can add to increase the activity in your life. Your overall goal here is to have a healthy and well balanced life with lots of sleep. Sleep is an essential key to our well being.
