Are the extra inches around your waist keeping you up at night? Has your last diet failed to help you lose that excess weight? Maybe you are doing something wrong or you are trying to lose weight too fast or perhaps it is just the wrong diet for you.

Lose Big with Jillian Michaels

Losing weight can be difficult at times because of the misunderstandings about food and how the metabolism really works. Some of the foods that we might consider to be low in calories may not be low at all. We eat what we think is right, unaware of the fat and calories that are lurking in our food. Losing weight can seem impossible if you're not aware of what you are eating.

In this article I am going to tell you what the truth is, while, exposing some of the popular myths about losing weight.

No Quick Formula to Weight Loss

If you think that by cutting down food and giving yourself a six week deadline, that you can lose weight, you are fooling yourself. This practice is guaranteed to bring your metabolism to a screeching halt! You may lose some weight, but it is bound to return rather quickly. You may feel great after having lost some weight but eventually you will gain your weight back and chances are it is going to frustrate you even more. Yo-yo dieting (losing and gaining weight frequently) is not advisable at all and is very unhealthy. A quick fix diet is destiny for long term failure.

Exercise Doesn't Need To Make You Hungry

Exercise is actually a great appetite suppressant. Once you get used to exercising, you will stop craving food. It is important to rehydrate yourself before, during and after exercising.. Have lime or lemon water without the sugar. Before and after an exercise, have a fruit, it will help you rebound back.

Skipping Vitamins and Minerals Is Unhealthy

All the talks about not eating carbohydrates with grains, or legume (which are certain pod-bearing plants like peas, beans or lentils) with something else is false. When you are having a meal, what matters most is the total calorie count. Of course, the total calorie count will vary according to a persons needs. The best way to get this is by three servings of fruit, 2 servings of pulses, plenty of vegetables (raw, cooked, or boiled) during the day. The rest of the food can be adjusted according to the requirement of calories. Sugar should be limited or avoided.

Dairy products should be uses according to one's need. Avoid processed food; try to eat more whole food.

Olive Oil Has No Calories

Olive oil has the same amount of calories as any other refined oil. It is definitely more healthy. Cook your food in olive oil but don't use more than 1 to 2 teaspoons. It has been proven that adding olive oil to a persons diet has a lowering effect on the blood pressure.

Lemon Juice and Hot Water Don't Fight The Bulge

Drinking lemon juice and hot water does not fight the bulge. The honey that you put into the hot lemon water to sweeten it, is fattening. All this drink gives you is that extra vitamin C.

Salt

Many people believe that by avoiding salt they can cut down on their calories. Apart from reducing the water content from the body (good for people suffering from water retention), a salt free diet doesn't bring down the calories that you eat.

Remember that the only way to lose your weight and maintain is by finding a diet that you can live with your whole life. A quick fix is long term failure.
