In any successful weightloss plan attitude is everything. When you attempt to do almost anything in life that is worthwhile the attitude you have will mean the difference between success and failure. When you look back into the history books you see situations where survival was almost impossible. You learn that those individuals that maintained a “can do” attitude are the ones who persevered to the end and survived. From the war stories of World War II all the way to the television show The Biggest Loser, the winners all had an attitude of success. The positive mental attitude to survive or succeed is the key ingredient again and again. If you are trying to lose weight and you have failed the failure is not you, it is the diet that failed you. You did not have all of the information you needed to take up the challenge of weight loss. Now you are ready to lose the weight and take back your life. The only question is how can I make this time work? How can I shed the pounds and keep the weight from returning with a vengeance?
Too bad you can’t go down to the corner store and purchase a six pack of confidence. Unfortunately the previous diet failures did little to help you believe in yourself. As you stand and look at the flab in the mirror the situation seems hopeless and you feel like crying or at least just giving up and accepting you are overweight. Do you think you are alone in these feelings? Do you think you are the only one in the world who is overweight? There is an epidemic of obesity in the United States today and this epidemic is unlike any other one in history. Yes this obesity epidemic is claiming lives. Over 300,000 people die every year and the number is growing. There is one huge difference unlike all the other epidemics that ever hit this planet. That is because the person that is going to find the cure is the same person looking back at you in the mirror. All of the cures for diseases were formulated through trial and error and the quest for knowledge. Losing weight is no different and you are not only the inventor of the cure but also the benefactor of the outcome. Once you start your quest on knowledge when your entire thought process towards food will begin to change. As you learn more about your body and its workings you will want to eat to live and not live to eat. Once you start to see a thinner you in the mirror your focus will become clear. Your confidence will begin to increase and you have begun your journey to a healthier you. The key to your own personal weight loss success is knowledge. Knowledge will bring confidence. Confidence helps success. Success wants more knowledge and brings more success. It is a cycle that grows with time. It is truly a wonderful thing.
There are many places that a person can begin to increase knowledge about weightloss. The starting point depends on your interests and grows from there. I used to fail on diets because of my disdain for having to be hungry while on a diet. As I searched around I learned that being hungry is all wrong. I was shocked to learn that if you are hungry on a diet then you are going about it all wrong. As I read more I found that if I ate smaller portions every two hours I would never have to be hungry and I started to lose weight. My lunch box got bigger and I was eating often and I was starting to lose weight. It was not only shocking to learn this, it was exciting. I learned to forsake the huge sit-down meal and traded it for day broken up and filled with healthy and satisfying munchies. Do not think that by buying the best gizmo or joining the health club the weight will fall off in chunks? Losing weight will take time and what better way to spend some of that time than by educating yourself. See if the local college offers a nutrition class. There is a local junior college just a few miles from my home that offers a semester of nutrition gaining information for only $98.00. During the outset of your knowledge quest refrain from buying “stuff”. Your goal is to gain knowledge which will increase your confidence.
There is a growing wave of weightloss shows on television. I love to watch The Biggest Loser. I enjoyed Shaq’s show helping the children. I have the advantage of prerecording all my shows on TiVo and I know there are even a few new ones coming soon. The point is that I find these types of shows motivating and encourage me to succeed and to continue on my weight loss travels. I really love the final show when they show the before and after shots of the used to be obese persons.
The point is that in order for you to lose weight you will need to make a journey. The best way to begin that trip is by gaining the knowledge that you need to navigate to your destination. This knowledge is similar to a roadmap to your weightloss success. Do not let others deflate your confidence. Everyone thinks they know what is best for you. Only you can decide that. Only you can decide to lose weight and to be healthier. Start your quest with knowledge and the confidence will show up unannounced. This newfound confidence will bring a friend and that friend is weightloss!
