Weight Loss and Self Confidence

Celebrate A New YouIf you are low on self esteem in your attempt to lose weight then you may need a way of improving your self confidence. One way to gain self confidence is through exercise which actually helps with your fitness while pushing back bouts of depression. When you build self confidence you make it easier to achieve healthy weight loss. One quick way to destroy your self confidence is to attempt fast weight loss which is actually unrealistic goal setting. When we discuss weight loss and self esteem we are not talking about getting an attitude or having a huge ego about life. We are talking about a nice healthy dose of self confidence which will make you feel attractive, confident and fun to be around. All attempts to lose weight must have their start in self esteem because for most overweight people their obesity overshadows their ability to feel confident in public.

Have you ever watched the people at work, at a mall, or even at the beach? Are you able to pick out the people who have self confidence and the ones that do not? We have done this often and you too can do it at a mall or just the corner store. People with self confidence believe in themselves, and they are in control in what they do and have in their lives. They accept responsibility for their actions. They have a positive outlook about the happenings in their lives and their attitudes are upbeat. Their lives aren't run by the should's, could's, musts and ought to's. They aren't impulsive and they seem to learn from their mistakes and refer to those mistakes as experiences in their life. They evaluate everything in their lives realistically. They speak their opinions with confidence and they have nothing to hide about their personal beliefs. Their body language also conveys the self confidence that they possess. They accept themselves for who they are which includes all their successes and their failures. They aren't afraid to take a great opportunity when they are offered it and they see life as a challenge. They can, they do, consistently make positive changes in their lives when needed. They accept change as part of their normal lives. They believe that they have the ability to control most all of the situations that come their way.

So how does a person lacking confidence encompass the ability to become confident? Below are some tips for increasing self confidence. Mastering the tips below will help you achieve healthy weightloss and generating enough self esteem to propell you into the public without feelings of being embarassed.

  • Raising Self Awareness. Take notice of when you are feeling confident and when you are feeling down. Who are you with and what are you doing? What brought on that down feeling and what needs to be done to change your mood? Be proactive in your seeking more self confidence through noticing the "triggers" that affect your mood swings.
  • Why or Why Not: Are you a why or why not person? Do you accept yourself for who you are, if not why? Why not go out to a party alone? Self confidence is about accepting yourself for who you are and accepting a challenge and making it an adventure.
  • What will everyone think?: People aren't thinking about you as much as you think they are. People often think about themselves and they do not notice what is going on around them. Self confidence is being aware that you will only be noticed when you put yourself in the spot light.
  • Being Real: Share your failures and your insecurities, people will likely be supportive and positive. Maybe you will even gain their respect for being yourself and for being real.
  • Self Talk: Listen to what you are saying to yourself. Do you call yourself ugly, fat, stupid or something else? Treat yourself with kindness because if you don't who will!
  • Weight loss begins with a increased awareness of self esteem. If you are seeking weight loss then that is great. Once you start to achieve that weight loss it will cause your confidence to surge and you will become unstoppable. Right now losing 100 pounds seems insurmountable but what about 10 pounds? It is a fact that when you stand on that scale and see you lost 10 pounds the desire to lose more grows stronger. This is because as your weight goes down, your self esteem goes up. Don't you think you could lose 10 pounds in the next five weeks? If you do, then through realistic goal setting you have just increased your self confidence and that is the genesis of your weight loss journey.

Just be yourself. Get out in the world and make your mark and don't worry about what others think, because we don't even know for sure if they will notice. Be a doer and not someone who hides behind their shadow. Let your light so shine!
