Wu-Long tea has been around for quite awhile before it came to be marketed heavily as a weight loss commodity. Before the weight loss attention it was called oolong Tea. The tradition of Wulong tea comes from Taiwan where its creation is considered a time honored art that requires years of training. The essential elements of the tea are born long before it is ever brewed. The beginning is when the seedlings are nursed and cared as they mature into bushes. As they turn into bushes the picking time is carefully chosen and is so important for the full flavor to be captured. The unique characteristics of the tea leaves born in Taiwan provide you with an exceptional quality tea that has been made famous for the taste alone. The tea was highly favored for this flavorful quality long before many started to look at it for its ability to help you lose weight. This weight loss concept has brought Wulong tea from the ancient eastern culture and thrust it onto the Western culture as a metabolism booster.
The groundbreaking study that brought the tea into the weight loss community was published in the August of 2003 in a journal of medical investigation. For the actual report click here.
This study was actually part of an earlier study that was not widely reported and went relatively unnoticed by the world. The purpose of the study was to compare the effects of oolong tea to the traditional green tea. The latter study involved eleven Japanese women who drank water, green tea or oolong tea after eating a meal. The results of this test were actually quite impressive and caused a stir among the scientists that conducted the study. It appeared that oolong tea increased energy expenditure by 10% while the other teas were less than 4%. In easy to understand terms, what this meant is that it was proven that oolong tea caused the metabolism of the woman to speed up, which causes fat to burn. The scientists were amazed that they found a way to speed up your metabolism which actually has been the goal of every diet pill ever conjured up. Everyone knows that diet pills are a failure and once again, Mother Nature has done what mankind has not been able to duplicate. After searching deeper for answers they analyzed the makeup of oolong tea and discovered that oolong contained half the caffeine content of green tea and that results loosely pointed towards the ability to help a person in their weight loss goal. Green tea has been discovered to help fight cancer in the body while oolong (WuLong) tea has been associated with weight loss assistance. The scientists felt that they have found an all natural product that actually increases your body’s metabolism. As everyone knows, metabolism is what weight loss is all about. A faster metabolism means the faster you are able to lose weight. This may be the only time I Choose Thin recommends it is alright to drink your calories. Almost always water is what is recommended but Mother Nature may have created something to help nudge you on your way to successful weight loss.
With all that being said, the staff here at I Choose Thin is biased towards this product because we are tea drinkers at heart and this WuLong tea has an awesome flavor and aroma that is loved by all. As far as the fat burning ability we do not see it as a weight loss miracle but do think that if combined with sensible eating and exercise it is a wonderful addition to your daily caloric intake. After a meal is the best time to enjoy a cup or two and we hope you try it because we think it is not only flavorful, but also we believe it does speed up the metabolism enough to warrant another cup.
