Losing weight successfully is not done by dieting, but by changing our lifestyle permanently. Here are some tips for personal changes that will help you loose your weight, and gain a healthier lifestyle.
- Make a commitment to lose the weight permanently, not to just reach a number on a scale.
- Make a commitment to change your bad habits, and make good habits for the rest of your life
- Diets don't work. Learn about healthy cooking by preparing the meals yourself and family.
- Learn portion control. Sometimes it isn't the food that we are eating, but the amount that we are putting in our mouths.
- Learn to eat your favorite foods in moderation instead of eliminating them from your diet. The word diet makes you feel deprivation, we want a new lifestyle that is healthy. To think you can eliminate your favorite foods is setting yourself up for failure.
- Weigh yourself once a week. The scale is only one source of measurement to your weight loss. Ask yourself how you are feeling, or how are your clothes fitting, these are probably more accurate than a number on a scale.
- Exercise! If you are not used to exercise, then start off slowly. If you can't afford a fitness center or exercise equipment, then walk. Walking is a great exercise, and anyone can do it. Find an exercise you like doing like dancing, bowling, golf, soft ball, weight lifting, running and then stick with it. Not everyone likes to exercise especially when starting, but the benefits you receive in exercising is tremendous.
Those are just a few tips to help your weight loss be successful. The most important factor in being a success is not to diet, but to make a total weight loss change. Changing your lifestyle will change your health, your well being, and your life.
