Fad Diets, Diet Pills, or Dieting

fad diets,diet pills, or dietingFad diets, diet pills, or dieting are the choices we look for when we are looking for a weight loss program. We want to lose weight right now, and we fail to realize it took us awhile to put this weight on, and that it will take awhile to take it off.

Can you really buy a fat trapper? How about a fat blaster? Can you lose weight without dieting?

Diet pills will not work if you are looking for long term weight loss. They are only for short term weight loss which usually brings failure in keeping the weight off. In my opinion, diet pills, fad diets, and even dieting are a waste of time and money. They are for short term weight loss, you should avoid them if you are looking for long term weight loss.

If you watch infomercials, you may think, or hope they work but... BEWARE!! If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. You cannot live on a fad diet for the rest of your life. Fad diets include low carb diets, high fat diets, liquid diets, and restricted calorie diets. Fad diets make surreal claims about weight loss often making statements of rapid weight loss of more than two pounds a week.

All diet pills are somewhat like fad diets, because the pills hit the market, make a sensation while the owners make their millions in revenue and whoosh, they are gone because they really do not work.

Just think for a moment...If someone really had a diet pill that REALLY worked, it would become bigger in stature than the invention we call the computer. A diet pill that really does work has not been invented yet.

Fad diets promise you an all you can eat plan, which is usually unbalanced. Many diets are very low in caloric content. What this usually results in is yo-yo dieting, which means a repeating condition of a losing and gaining weight.

The main problem that happens is that we are looking to melt our fat away, or blast the fat right out of the universe.

We all know that permanent weight loss means making changes in our lifestyles. This includes altering our eating habits, how we prepare food, and how much we eat.

High protein, low carbohydrate diets are especially popular. They promote quick weight loss by restricting healthy foods.

Low Carb Diets usually don't distinguish between healthy carbohydrates, like fruits and whole grains, which are full of beneficial fiber, and simple sugars. Unhealthy carbohydrates consist of white sugar, white bread, and processed starches. These should be eaten sparingly.

High protein diets advise you to eat excessive amounts of protein and fat. This becomes unhealthy because your brain needs carbohydrates for fuel. Staying on this type diet for long periods of time causes your body to go into a fasting state of ketosis.

When you eat protein, two of the by-products formed in the liver is nitrogen and urea. If your diet is excessive in protein, it causes the liver and kidneys to work extra hard to metabolize protein and to eliminate the toxic by-products. This produces an increased fluid loss which shows up on the scales as weight loss.

High protein diets deplete calcium, and increases the risk for osteoporosis.

BEWARE, when someone is losing weight quickly on a weight loss plan, or if it sounds too good to be true it probably is... too good to be true. The true meaning of diet is "manner of living." Diet just means the food you normally eat, and the true definition of diet really hasn't anything to do with weight loss.

Balanced Weight Loss

A balanced diet provides adequate nutrition to maintain your weight. This is what will keep us healthy. This doesn't mean that you can't splurge once in awhile, and have something rich or fatty occasionally. It is your diet for the long term that will prove to be healthy or not.

What is successful dieting for gradual weight loss and maintaining? It is a meal plan that is well balanced with adequate calories and nutrition. This would include healthy amounts of carbohydrates, protein, and minimal fat, especially saturated fat.

Adding exercise into your lifestyle is important. Building lean muscle mass will improve your metabolism and your appearance. Find a weight loss plan that provides good nutrition and lots of variety which will spice up your life.

Short Term Weight Loss

Fad diets, diet pills, and dieting should only be used if your only losing weight for a wedding, class reunion or something that is not long term.
