Fast Food Cravings and Weight Loss

fast food cravings and weight lossFast Food has been apart of my life since before I ever heard of the word cravings. Burger King, McDonalds, Sonic, Taco Bell, Wendy's and Hardees. The list could go on and on but I think you get the idea. Some people crave chocolate, or just candy, maybe your vice is salt?.

I can make some really good and nutritious healthy eating choices for the most part, but then there are those days I feel like I must have a eating disorder because I want a burger and fries. There are some days that I feel as if there are just not enough carbohydrates, and fat left in the world for me to satisfy my cravings.

When these cravings come along I have a hard time changing out a Quarter Pounder With Cheese for a McSalad? When I crave something I am like an unstoppable machine bent on fast food obesityfastfoodcravingsandwl that will only end in my shattered long term weight loss goals.

This is where I have trouble staying in the diet mode. This is when I make my secret trips through the drive thru that my friends and family do not know about.

I could have read all the articles that would tell me about the slaughter of cattle and all the things that go into the meat that would make me sick, or I could have watched the movie Super Size Mefastfoodcravingsandwl , but how long would my memory have lasted when I would pass a McDonalds or Wendy's, or smell the aroma that is coming out of one of their establishments.

Not Long! I know that I am not the only one that has felt this way so there had to be a solution to this problem.

Breaking Loose From The Fast Food Hold!

Society as a whole has become more health conscious on what they are eating, as well as their families eating habits. Today more than ever, fast food restaurants are trying to join the bandwagon and are offering healthier and more nutritious foods on their menu.

We really should be taking advantage of this! Obviously, the best and most effective ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle are by exercising and maintaining a nutritious diet, but everybody knows there are times when you are forced to grab a burger from the drive-thru. So the question remains, how can you eat fast and healthy?

You can cut down on your fat and caloric intake by ordering salads, and grilled sandwiches in an effort to stay away from fried sandwiches. McDonalds and Wendy's offer a variety of healthy and delicious salads on their menu's.

Most of them cost under four dollars. If your not in the mood for a salad then order a basic McDonald's hamburger, there are 250 calories, and 9 grams of fat in this burger. A basic burger is way better than the 740 calories, and 42 grams of fat in a Double Quarter Pounder with cheese.

Compare that to the Wendy's Jr. hamburger which is only 280 calories with 9 grams of fats. The key is to acknowledge your cravings, and not give in too often, and when you do, make a better choice now that you have the knowledge. In this case, knowledge is weight loss power.

If you want fresh made, then Subways is a great option. They offer six sub sandwiches all under 6 grams of fat and are all priced under $6.(Depending upon the region that you live.) We are all familiar with Jared and his love for Subway.

He had an uncanny ability to limit the type of fast food that he put into his body which attributed to his weight loss. So come on! It’s not that hard and you can do it! Eat for nutrition and don't eat just to curb your cravings! Eating should not be a form of entertainment.

You can eat out as a treat while following these simple ideas:

  1. Ask or look for the nutritional information available for restaurants. Be mindful of what you are eating.
  2. Go easy on the condiments and the cheese, sauces and don't super-size
  3. Eat in moderation.
  4. Eating fast food once in while won’t hurt, but don’t make it a habit.
  5. Substitute grilled for fried.
  6. Drink water instead of soda.
  7. Beware of high fat salad dressings.
  8. Chicken has less fat than beef.
  9. If you have fast food for lunch, make sure that your dinner is healthy and nutritious.

When eating out at fast food restaurants, you can be successful at weight loss if you can look for healthier foods and not give in to your fast food cravings.
