Having a Fat Day
Have you ever wandered around a clothing store browsing through the clothes rack, and you come across some pants with an elastic waist with a lot of stretch in them. You know it isn't what you want, but you try them on anyway.
When you try them on, they are comfy, and you are thinking they are hiding your fat. This is what I could call having a fat day. So what is a fat day? It can't be a holiday, hmmm must be the day after a holiday.
You would of thought someone would of made it a national holiday, because we all have one. Do you ever wonder about when the word fat became an emotion or a feeling? What exactly does it mean to feel fat?
What can cause a fat day and how often do we have them? Some of us have them every day, others once in awhile. Maybe it should be a national or even global holiday.
There are several things that can happen in a day, that can send you into a tail spin of a fat day like:
- Weighing more on the bathroom scale
- Not being able to fit into your favorite pair of jeans without laying on the bed
- Someone makes some kind of rhetorical comment about the way your clothes fit your body
- When we look in the mirror and as ashamed of the extra weight we are carrying, we tend regard that day as a fat day.
That is all it takes to make a fat day, no matter what day of the month it may be.
A good fat day is not complete without the tears, the anger, the negative self talk, and wearing the biggest clothes in the closet. These are the days when we get out our special fat day pants. Usually we feel alone, unloved, and invisible to the opposite sex on these particular days.
So here is the question again, "How do we keep "fat" from becoming emotional?". We really need to recognize that the truth of the matter is fat is just plain old fat! Fat has no emotion, it just likes to store itself in our bodies.
We really need to recognize that our emotions are coming from shame and negative self talk. We have to stop treating fat as an emotion, because it won't help us lose weight and reach our weight loss goals. If we could use the emotional comparison of losing weight to cleaning the junk out from under my bed, we would all be happier and maybe a little more leaner and healthy.
Tips for Handling a fat day:
- Eat Healthy: When shopping, shop the outside rows, and make healthier selections.
- Exercise: Exercise is the key to toning and the making of a beautiful and healthy body. If you can't make it to a fitness center, then walk, take the stairs, or just find something to get your body moving.
- Feeling
- Good About You!: Wear something that makes you feel beautiful. Stop yourself from putting on your fat comfy pants and hiding in your clothes. Celebrate how wonderful you are and how great you look right now! Put on some of your favorite lip color, sexy shoes, or choose something that states, I Look Fantastic and Feel Great".
- Positive People: Hang out with people that will uplift you and are a positive motivators in your life. Stay away from the whiners in your life. Surround yourself with positive energy, and feel the good vibes that others put out. Inspire the very best in yourself.
- Pay it Forward: Do something kind for someone. Visit an elderly person, pay someone a compliment, or maybe give someone a hug who is having a bad day. You have the power to change another persons life by being kind, and you reap the rewards by having the power to transform your life for a higher purpose. Others will appreciate and valur you, so in reture you will learn to appreciate, and value yourself. Remember that kindness begins with taking loving care of yourself first.
So next time you are having a fat day, turn it around. Do something kind for yourself, and others. Put your body in motion, ship for healthier foods, and hold your head up high and take the walk of life. You may not be perfect, but there is nothing more beautiful, and more appealing than a person who has cleaned under her bed.
