Get Excited About Exercise
How in the world do we get excited about exercise? Exercise is a do it yourself adventure, and one that you are about to embark on. No one in this world can do it for you, but you.
It is also very important that we have realistic goals set in place, so when we begin, our exercise journey will be successful. Setting unrealistic goals is setting yourself up for failure.
People who want to lose weight, and get into fantastic shape should set goals that you will be able to keep, and then take baby steps in order to have success in reaching your exercise destiny.
Some motivating factors for wanting to lose weight and exercise might be:
- to improve your physical health
- wanting to lose weight
- to enhance your physique and appearance
- to be healthy
In the past, physical activity has become an exception to the rule, both at home, and on the job. People drive to their destinations where others once walked.
People have a remote for their televisions, and other electronics, where at one time, we had to get out of our chairs to turn them on, change channels, and turn them off.
In our jobs we have machines now that are automated, and we sit and watch them so they work properly, where as before, we actually had to do the work. We have become a lazy society.
People who are always dieting are always expecting to gain their weight back, because they know that they aren't going to stick with it. I am all to familiar with this type of thinking.
People are successful on low fat dieting, and even get to feeling great about life. Then they go back to their old eating habits, and sedentary ways, even though they were feeling wonderful, and even enjoying exercise. Does this sound like you? Does this sound familiar?
Below are some ways to keep yourself motivated:
Have Specific and Realistic Goals in Mind.
A simple statement like: "I want to lose weight," is a very vague and unclear statement. It will is not a motivating statement, and it probably won't motivate you to lose weight or exercise.
It is important to be very clear about your goals. It is also really good if you can be more detailed, and visualize your goals. See them, believe them, and live them!
This will not only inspire you to reach your desired weight, but it could be a huge motivating factor. The idea is to use your realistic desired weight to assist you in remaining motivated, and dedicated until you reach your goals.
Develop a Strategy!
You need to develop a strategy on how you are going to achieve your goals. Will power is only one source, but it will not help get you to your goal.
To exercise and lose weight, your strategy must include both a well balanced diet, and exercise. You have to do both at the same time in order to succeed. You cannot do one without the other.
As you get nearer to your goal, throw away all of your larger sizes, this will motivate you not to gain your weight back, because you won't have any large clothes in your closet to grow into.
Be Accountable to Yourself.
Plan! Plan! Plan! Plan ahead! Plan your meals, and your exercise around your lifestyle. Do what works for you, and your body. Do what is good for you, you know how far you can go with exercising, and you also know when you are full. Getting healthy is a do it yourself job. No one knows you, but you.
Get a Workout Buddy!
Get a friend, or even a personal trainer to help you chart your progress. This will inspire you on your journey.
Having a friend there to support you, and to cheer you on is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. Reach out, and accept any support that is freely given.
No one can make you exercise, or make you eat right, but having a cheerleader in your corner can be a huge motivating factor. It always help knowing there is someone who is believing in you.
Time line
How long is it going to take you to achieve a healthy and fit body? Make an achievable goal. It is healthier to lose weight slowly. Setting a goal of losing 1 to 2 pounds a week is a realistic goal, and can help you achieve your goals.
Conclusion
The bottom line is that you need to get excited about exercise and getting healthy. It will take a lot of hard work, some motivation, and a lifestyle change. You can do it!! It won't be easy at first, but once you get the ball rolling, you will love your new, and exciting life. So use the affirmation "I Choose Thin and A Healthy Lifestyle!", and be successful. Good luck on your journey!
