Keep Exercise Simple
Most times the problem with depression is that you are feeling that all your energy has been zapped, and there is no life left in you. Even getting out of bed is a big deal, so exercising can seem like you are living your bad dreams.
No matter what your mind is telling you, exercise is a good, and healthy thing to do. If you can take some baby steps, and add a little activity into your day, it will improve your moods, and help you move through your depression.
Below Are Some Idea's To Get You Going
- Set realistic simple goals for yourself. Set a goal to get up every morning, and just get dressed. Take a walk around the block, if you cannot leave your house, then walk around on the inside. Promise yourself that you will try to take this walk a few times a day. The first day is the hardest! Every day after that one, try to do a little more. It will get easier.
- Don't be hard on yourself. If you can't handle a lot of exercise, then be grateful for what you have accomplished at that moment. Now isn't the time to kick yourself when you are trying to get up.
- Do what makes you feel better. If you like to walk, then walk a little ways. If you like yoga, then enjoy the moment. If you like to dance, then turn on the music and just move with it. You don't have to jump right into the twist, or hip hop stuff. If you feel like your not ready right now, then that will be your choice, but you will feel lots better if you can.
- Ask a friend or family member to join you. Talking to someone when you are depressed helps you feel better, raises your energy, and reminds you that you are not alone. So why not ask someone to walk with you, even if it is inside your home.
- Get out and get some fresh air. Sunshine always makes you feel better. Everyone needs a little vitamin D in their life. Go outside, feel the gentle breeze, remind yourself of the things you love around you, and let yourself know that you can participate in it as much, or as little as you desire.
- Find a doctor to help you through your depression. Talk to them about treatment options, and exercise. They might be able to help you by setting you up with a physical trainer, which can help you succeed in controlling your depression.
Whatever you do in this life never give up on living. Lets get up, and get moving, because you are not alone, and you aren't fated to feel this way forever. Participate in life as much as you can. Exercise will be your new drug, it will enhance your moods, raise your self esteem, make you see the wonderful person that you are. The self accomplishment that you will gain will add a new spark to your life, which will be something you will be very proud of, and feel wonderful about.
