Losing the Weight Loss Battle

If you have been struggling with weight loss, then read on to see ways of winning not losing the weight loss battle. Successful weight loss is somewhat simple. To lose weight you must burn off more energy than you take in from food. You need to determine how many calories your body is burning everyday. By doing this you can properly adjust the caloric intake to maintain your weight. You also need an easy way to determine how much of your weight loss is muscle, and how much is body fat. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn when you are at rest.
Factors That Can Be Responsible for Weight Regain
Gene Pool
Genetics, and the environment may increase the risk of personal weight gain. However, the choices a person makes in eating, and physical activity also contributes to overweight, and obesity. Behavior can increase a person’s risk for gaining weight.
Unrealistic Expectations
The weight loss industry tries to convince us that the rapid weight loss diets are healthy. The fact is that losing weight quickly is not healthy, and usually the weight will quickly be regained. Slow weight loss, including plateaus, help the body adjust to the changes that are taking place.
Maintaining your weight loss should be the same diet, and an exercise program that you used to lose the weight. Most people need more exercise to maintain their weight loss than when they tried to lose weight. This is why we should concentrate on finding a diet that we can live with forever.
Eating Patterns
People usually tend to yo-yo diet in order to lose weight, which does more harm than good. Skipping meals makes you crave, and overeat at your next meal. It slows down your metabolism and slows down your weight loss. People get frustrated with their own personal weight situation, yet they spend little time in the preparation of their food or planning of their meals.
Physical Activity
Exercise is absolutely essential for permanent weight loss. The problem is that we tend to go about it in the wrong way. A new fitness center opens up, we join, and then we over compensate on exercising, get sore, and 6 months later and we have nothing to show for it except for the money we are paying. Some of us set our goals too high, and we can't find the time to fit exercise into our busy schedules. Others are doing well for awhile, and then something changes in their life, and exercise becomes a distant thought. Exercise does not have to be a trip to the gym. It could be walking at the mall or just taking the stairs instead of the elevator. A term we love is "accidental exercise", which just means parking further from the door or taking the stairs instead of the elevator.
Support Center
All of us need encouragement, and support in order to achieve our weight loss, and maintenance goals. Studies have shown that diet changes can be hard to maintain without the support of others. Encouragement is a form of motivation to help keep you on track for everlasting success. To be motivated you don't have to be fired up or excited, these emotions
can't sustain you in maintaining your weight. You just need to be calm, positive in your thinking, and be ready to make a lifestyle change. Your support system can help you take those slow steady steps. That support system can be as simple as a friend or a neighbor with similar goals. A move, a death in the family, buying a new home, or a job change could be a few of life's events that can throw you off track. If you have established a good foundation towards your new lifestyle, the less likely you will be thrown a curve ball.. We need our support system in times of need to help hold us on a slow, and steady course of our new healthy lifestyle.
