Motivating Yourself
Do you have a hard time motivating yourself? I know that I do at different times in my life.
Will power is important to achieving success. We all go through times when we get discouraged, and we just run out of steam. This is when we start to lose sight of our weight loss goals. It is important to know that it is you are the creator that must create techniques to keep yourself focused and motivated.
Visualize Goals
Whatever goals you are working towards, visualize them. If it is health, weight loss, and getting in shape you are wanting, then keep a picture journal of your journey.
If your goal is for something material like a car or a vacation that you have been looking forward to for a long time then collect visual data. See it come into full bloom.
Making a Contract with Yourself
People who keep a to-do list are more consistent in reaching their goals than those that just keep a mental list. Putting something in writing somehow makes it more possible.
Psychologists say that it makes the contract more powerful to the individual. In the contract, you can also add a reward that you will give yourself if you reach your specific goals.
Reward Yourself
Everyone likes to receive something special like a reward when they have done a great job. A simple pat on the back, "good job" or a "thank you", may do the trick in giving a person the additional push to move forward, unfortunately these kinds of acts seem to come seldom, or not at all.
Considering that these are also essential in keeping yourself motivated, you must learn to find a way to get that encouragement on your own through pleasing yourself.
Negative People
There are all sorts of abusive, grumpy people in the world. Abusive unhappy people have low self esteem issues, and can bring your self esteem down. Get the negative people put of your life. Surround yourself with positive people. Imitate their examples and behaviors. Keep a smile on your face and think happy thoughts.
Smile
Keeping a smile on your face, and yourself in a great mood will give you a brighter outlook. It helps you to see a clearer picture of what you really want.
It also helps you keep a fresh mind to know what steps it will take to get you to your weight loss goal. Rather than wait for things to happen, try to be proactive, and MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. Inactivity stills the brain and your ability to reach your goals.
Read Success Stories, Inspirational Books, and Meditate
All of these things will help improve your attitude, and heal your mind. Success stories prove to be very encouraging. You will not only learn from other's experiences, but you will learn how to find confidence and motivation skills through them.
Their stories will be influential in motivating you in reaching your weight loss goals, and move forward to a healthier plan. If this still doesn't help you with motivation, then maybe you need to educate yourself in what you are wanting to achieve.
In Conclusion
Oftentimes, not knowing how or where to start is really frustrating and a little intimidating. Knowledge is power. Having a clear understanding of how, and where to start is empowering. It will provide the extra push needed to reach your goal, and follow it through to the end.
If after reading all of these tips and tricks, you still feel that you are lacking the drive and motivation that you are seeking to reach your goal then try this one last thing.
Whatever goals that you have been wanting to do, or to achieve, JUST DO IT! Keep yourself aligned with that goal and go for it! Actually just getting your hands dirty usually solves the problem with motivation.
By pushing yourself to just do it, your strength picks up gradually, and before you know it you are now wearing your new hot looking body, and you have achieved your goal.
Divide and conquer is the key. Sounds like we are going to war, but in a way losing weight, getting fit and healthy is like our own personal war battling within ourselves.
Break down your goals into small doable steps. Take one step at a time, do that step until it becomes a habit, and then move on. You will start to see results happen which will give you more self confidence, that you can succeed, and reach your long term goal.
Lack of motivation happens to all of us, but if you don't encourage yourself to accept opportunities and challenge yourself, no one else will.
It is most important to keep your eye on your goals, find different ways to keep moving ahead, and in time you will be able to reap the benefits of a healthier body, and a healthy lifestyle.
And if at the beginning you were doing it for the material reward, you will also learn to realize that the fulfillment, satisfaction, and self achievement you achieve from reaching your goal is a much more enjoyable high that will keep the drive within, constantly burning.
Motivating yourself is always a work in progress, but if you do it in small doses you will reap huge successes.
