Weight Loss and Diet Soda
We all have thought about drinking diet soda and weight loss, because diet soda has less calories, and can't be bad for us . When we finally decide to go on that last diet, or healthy eating journey, we put our foods in categories. Diet soda is always put in the "I can have" bin. At this time of your journey you should be drinking water.
When you drink a diet soda you may be getting a lot more than the sugar substitute you bargained for. You did not start drinking diet soda because of the great flavor but rather because you were seeking better health. Think back of when you were a child.
You drank Pepsi or Coke or some other full sugar soda beverage. When you were a child you never preferred the taste of diet soda over full sugar soda. Somewhere between those early days and today your taste evolved into a diet soda because you were attempting to limit your calories.
Chances are you were making an honest attempt to drink a beverage that did not pack the calories on the midsection. Now drinking the diet soda is more of a habit that a conscious choice. You may be drinking fewer calories but are you really serving the purpose for drinking the beverage?
Are you really drinking a beverage that is better for your body? The answer to this question is a resounding NO.
- Did you know that diet soda has extremely high sodium content? This is like flipping a coin. Is excessive sugar better than excessive sodium? High sodium intake brings on a plethora of physical issues that outweigh the benefits for drinking a diet beverage in the first place.
- Diet soda contains Aspartame. If you do not know what this is than I suggest you do a Google and you will never want it to pass your lips again. Aspartame
consists of methanol which is also known as wood alcohol which is a poison. Once you have consumed it, methanol will turn into formic acid and formaldehyde while it is in your body. The list of side effects for Aspartame is long and serious. The official list from the FDA attributes aspartame has having ninety two possible side effects. In many places it is even referred to as aspartame poisoning. It may even cause brain seizures and brain tumors.
- If you are drinking diet soda to lose weight and it contains NutraSweet then you have set yourself up for dismal failure. NutraSweet is a known product that causes excessive hunger. If you are trying to lose weight excessive hunger is not a good thing.
- When you drink traditional soda you get a sugar buzz and when you consume a diet beverage you get a caffeine buzz. The complications of caffeine consumption and addiction are numerous with fatigue, chronic anxiety, insomnia, and worsening symptoms of hormonal imbalance topping the list.
We are not saying that drinking an occasional diet soda can be the end of your weight loss journey.. We just want you to be aware that a diet soda is not the best choice you can make. We have seen people who drink diet soda by the gallon on a daily basis.
So, if you are trying to make your thighs thinner, your butt smaller, or your second chin go away, then maybe you need to cut back on the diet soda. A diet with diet soda can destroy your diet.
